Open Bite + Long Face Height

This patient had been wearing braces for 2 years when we first met. He did not like his smile and was unable to bite with his front teeth. In fact, he had one of the most significant open bites I have seen and unfortunately, conventional orthodontic treatment was not working.

Pre-surgical orthodontic alignment of his teeth was completed with new braces. The upper and lower jaws were then surgically repositioned to correct his bite and optimize his dental and facial esthetics.

"Overbite" and Lower Jaw

This patient was most concerned about the short appearance of her chin and overbite. She was also interested in straighter teeth and a prettier smile.

Braces were placed to align the teeth in preparation for surgery. Her lower jaw was then surgically advanced to correct the overbite and optimize her facial esthetics.

I met this patient late in the 2nd year of his orthodontic treatment. His originating orthodontist was appropriately treating George’s dental crowding with braces and attempting to modify his facial growth with dentofacial orthopedics to correct the short lower jaw and “overbite”. Unfortunately, conventional braces and growth modification were not adequately correcting the problem.

New braces were placed to facilitate completion of the pre-surgical orthodontic alignment. The lower jaw was then surgically repositioned to correct the bite and optimize his dental and facial esthetics.

Severe "Underbite"

"Underbite" and Long Face Height

This patient was concerned about her underbite and not satisfied with her smile and facial esthetics. Braces were placed for pre-surgical orthodontic dental alignment followed by surgical repositioning of both the upper and lower jaws to correct her underbite and optimize both dental and facial esthetics.

Deep Bite + Short Face Height

Deep Bite + Short Face Height Correction

This patient presented to my office with a significantly short lower face height, severe deep overbite and moderate dental crowding.

Braces were placed for pre-surgical orthodontic alignment followed by surgical repositioning of the lower jaw. Initially, he did not want any treatment. However, at the end he was happy with the decision he had made. He stated unequivocally “thank you, it has changed my life”. He went on to pursue a career counseling at-risk teenagers.
