At Shults Orthodontics, we understand the importance of supplying a wide variety of orthodontic treatments for our patients. Not all patients have the same orthodontic needs or even the same desires. That’s why, as your trusted choice for a West Palm Beach and Wellington, FL orthodontist, we’re proud to go above and beyond the standard for orthodontic care. In addition to our wide variety of braces that we provide, we’re also glad to offer Invisalign.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is essentially known as the alternative to braces. Instead of featuring metal brackets and wires to shift a patient’s teeth, Invisalign uses plastic, removable aligners to straighten them. These aligners have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth into perfect alignment. You’ll wear a set of aligners for one week and then after the one week has passed, you’ll begin wearing the next set of aligners for one week. You’ll continue this process until you’ve gone through all the aligners. It’s an innovative and effective new way to perfect a smile.

What Are the Benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the reasons why you may choose to use Invisalign for your orthodontic treatment include the following:

  • As hinted at by the name, the aligners of Invisalign are clear and thus, practically invisible. Others will have no idea that you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment!
  • The aligners are removable, meaning that you can take them out whenever you need to. As long as you wear them for at least 22 hours a day, the aligners will be able to do their job.
  • You can still eat whatever you want. Braces require patients to eliminate hard and sticky foods from their diets because of the harm that they can cause to the wires and brackets. Because you’ll be taking your aligners out before you eat, there’s no need to restrict your diet.
  • Cleaning is just as simple as ever. Unlike with traditional braces where you’ll have to struggle to get your toothbrush to clean crevices that seem to be magnets for plaque, bacteria, and food particles, with Invisalign, you just remove your aligners and brush as normal.
  • Invisalign also offers a much more comfortable orthodontic treatment than braces. The aligners are made of smooth, polyurethane plastic which will irritate your mouth much less than the metal of brackets and wires.
